Help : Feature Search A search for Features allows geographical features such as Rivers, Geothermal Areas, Glaciers, Islands, Lakes and Mountain Ranges to be located and shown on a map. Enter the name of the Feature or the first few characters of the Feature Name and the type of feature or Point Description. Field Description Required/ Optional Feature or Place Name Feature or Place Name or the first few characters of the name. The search will show all records that match the characters at the beginning of the name.  R Point Description A feature type such as, Lake, Mountain Range, Bay, Cave or River. O From the list of names click the appropriate Feature Name and the location will be shown on the map. Features usually cover a wide area, such as a mountain range or lake and may go over multiple maps. The location of the feature is a point near the centre of the feature and may not be placed on the feature name itself. Not all features are labelled on the maps. For example a river may be a long, narrow feature spanning multiple maps, but it will be identified as a point on the particular map, but the river name may be labelled on a different map.
